Time squeeze

October 9, 2008

Barack Obama got off a funny line in Indianapolis . . .

Obama remembered the famous line that Ronald Reagan used  to attack Jimmy Carter, suggesting Americans ask, “are you better off than you were four years ago?”  Obama said, “At the pace we are going, you are going to have to ask if you are better off than you were 4 weeks ago.”

. . . but that doesn’t mean his ideas for threading our way through the current mess are any better than McCain’s. Either of them would, unfortunately,  speed us along to a centrally controlled economy. Obama just might get us there a little sooner, that’s all.

Comrades Bush and Paulsen are getting us there just fine — which confuses me since loosely enforced regulations of mortgage-backed securities was going so swimmingly.

To finish Dougs’ sentence..Thanks to Barney Frank & Chris Dodd.
